Irvin, Mastriano Announce $450,000 for Shippensburg Area Middle School Campus Improvements

March 26, 2024

HARRISBURG – Rep. Rich Irvin (R-Franklin/Huntingdon) and Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-Adams/Franklin) today announced funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Multimodal Fund in the amount of $450,000 for improvements to the Shippensburg Area Middle School campus.

The funding will be used to construct a new access road at the middle school located in Shippensburg Borough.

“Student safety is always the top priority, which is why this funding was requested,” said Irvin. “Better management of vehicle traffic will ultimately benefit students, parents, school employees and area commuters. I was pleased to work with Sen. Mastriano to advocate for this needed funding.”

“After seeing the dangerous traffic issue with my own eyes while on a visit to Shippensburg Middle School, I was very happy to throw my support behind this grant award,” said Mastriano. “The grant will help Shippensburg School District construct a new access road to alleviate traffic concerns and facilitate the safe travel of students and pedestrians between the high school and middle school.”

Funding comes from the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, which provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth.
