Funding for Area Fire, EMS Companies Announced, Says Irvin

HARRISBURG – Rep. Rich Irvin (R-Franklin/Huntingdon) announced funding being awarded to emergency responder organizations in the 81st Legislative District under the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program.
“This is critical funding that helps ensure our fire and EMS companies stay open,” said Irvin. “These are volunteer operations that take a lot of hard work, long hours and funding to safely and effectively serve their communities. I have, and always will, support these vital organizations.”
Projects eligible for funding under the grant include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.
The following is a list of local fire and EMS companies and the amount of their grant awards:
Franklin County
• Fannett Metal Fire and Ambulance Co. (Fire) - $16,106.
• Fannett Metal Fire and Ambulance Co. (EMS) - $15,000.
• Metal Township Fire and Ambulance Co. Inc. (Fire) - $13,739.
• Metal Township Fire and Ambulance Co. Inc. (EMS) - $15,000.
• Pleasant Hall Volunteer Fire Co. (EMS) - $15,000.
• Pleasant Hall Volunteer Fire Co. (Fire) - $12,879.
• St. Thomas Township Volunteer Fire and Rescue Co. - $12,233.
• West End Fire and Rescue Co. - $16,322.
Huntingdon County
• Alexandria Volunteer Fire Co. - $15,676.
• Huntingdon Regional Fire and Rescue - $40,322.
• Juniata Valley Ambulance Service Assoc. Inc. - $15,000.
• Marklesburg Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 (Fire) - $13,739.
• Marklesburg Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 (EMS) - $15,000.
• Mill Creek Borough Volunteer Fire Co. - $16,322.
• Mount Union Fire Co. 1 (Fire) - $12,233.
• Mount Union Fire Co. 1 (EMS) - $15,000.
• Orbisonia Rockhill Emergency Medical Service - $15,000.
• Orbisonia Rockhill Volunteer Fire Co. - $13,524.
• Petersburg Volunteer Fire Co. - $13,524.
• RW & BT Volunteer Fire Co. (Fire) - $13,739.
• RW & BT Volunteer Fire Co. (EMS) - $15,000.
• Shade Gap Fire Co. - $12,448.
• Shavers Creek Valley Community Volunteer Fire Co. - $13,955.
• Smithfield Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 - $16,322.
• Stone Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Co. - $13,739.
• Three Springs Area Ambulance Service Inc. - $15,000.
• Trough Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Co. - $12,018.
• Twins Creek Community Volunteer Ambulance - $15,000.
The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not General Fund tax revenue.
