Irvin to Host License Plate Replacement Events in Huntingdon, Shippensburg
August 14, 2026
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Rich Irvin (R-Franklin/Huntingdon) is hosting two upcoming license plate replacement events in Huntingdon and Shippensburg for residents with faded, peeling or otherwise unreadable or damaged license plates.
“This is a free service to obtain a free replacement license plate if it is deemed unreadable,” said Irvin. “Deputies from area sheriff’s offices will be on hand at each location to fill out the paperwork. The new plates will be available at my offices for pick-up once they are processed through PennDOT.”
The first event will be held on Monday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Southhampton Township Municipal Building, 703 Municipal Drive in Shippensburg. The Franklin County Sherriff's office will be assisting and will also be conducting child safety seat checks for anyone who is interested.
The second event will be held on Friday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Smithfield Volunteer Fire Co., 10 Firehouse Lane in Huntingdon. The Huntingdon County Sheriff's office will be assisting with checking license plates.
Vehicle owners must bring the license plate, current vehicle registration and their unexpired driver's license to the event.
Those who are unable to attend these events and need a replacement license plate can apply for a plate at any time by using PennDOT form MV-46, which can be picked up at Irvin’s offices. A completed form, signed by a law enforcement officer or certified safety inspector, can then be submitted to Irvin’s offices for processing.
For more information, call Irvin’s district offices at 814-644-2996 (Huntingdon) or 717-532-1707 (Shippensburg).
